This week marked a historic event in the fashion world…Valentino showed his final collection after almost five decades of dressing Hollywood stars ranging from Elizabeth Taylor to Cameron Diaz.

He celebrated his 45 year anniversary last July with parties in Rome. “It was a moment that will be impossible to repeat. And so, at this time, I have decided that it is the perfect moment to say adieu to the world of fashion,” Valentino said in September when he announced his retirement.

His latest spring-summer haute couture collection, unveiled on Wednesday, added to years of exquisite creations by the designer.

Couture collections

Valentino was probably most notorious for his signature red dresses. Here’s a few of my favourites.

Valentino has designed so many perfect dresses over the years and will be sorely missed by the fashion industry.

Hey, I don't really have time for a long post tonight as I have a big event that I've organised happening tomorrow and I need to pick up 20 Belgian and Dutch journalists in the morning. I'll update more tomorrow when it's done as I'm not sure how much I can give away at this point. This post is dedicated to Heath Ledger, I was so shocked to hear about what happened to him, like everyone, he had such great talent and was way to young to die. Here's a picture of him in happier times.

“Queen of Burlesque”

You’ll never guess who I saw at work today…Dita Von Teese and she looked as glamorous as always. She’s in Paris to attend the haute couture shows and to represent MAC cosmetics Viva Glam and the MAC Aids Fund at the Sidaction AIDS fundraiser “Dinner de la mode”.

Already a celebrity for her renowned Burlesque act and her famous 16 inch waist, she’s been announced as the face of Wonderbra for whom she’ll be design a vintage inspired lingerie range in September.

Block colour, detail and a token guy

I love the way the girl on the right has vamped up a simple jeans and tea combo with the use of next season’s block colour. The girl in the middle is refusing to let winter get to her, even if the sun refuses to shine with her sunshine yellow winter coat and purple flats. The girl on the left has changed the way we look at office wear with a flash of bright orange contrasted with the more traditional black.

This next group of outfits shows how one simple change or detail can transform an outfit from distinctly average to outstanding with no added effort. The girl on the right has played it safe in black and cream but the bubble hemline of her skirt and the cropped blazer add interest to an otherwise plain ensemble. The girl in the middle shows how little it takes to transform a simple white shift dress into something exceptional, just a few gold buttons and some on trend shoe boots. The girl on the left also plays it safe with her colour scheme but the detail of her jacket says it all.

This guy couldn’t get away with not being featured wearing leggings and wellies! He reminds me of someone who I work with who regularly turns up at the office in wellies and wear them to take clients out to lunch…I wish I had the guts to do that!

Thanks for sticking with me over the last few months of very scarce posts, it's all set to change now. Check back in the next few days for an update on my life in Paris. I'm going to be giving away a little bit about my new job, the possibility of meeting Thierry Henry and a snapshot of my new neighbourhood!

Bolongaro Trevor Spring/ Summer 08

One of my earlier posts was about the fashion label Bolongaro Trevor, created by Kate Bolongaro and Stuart Trevor (the creators of All Saints). I posted about the Autumn/ Winter 07 collection. Following a comment by Stuart I decided to review the Spring/ Summer 08 collection.

The new collection follows the rules of the previous collection with modern vintage twist but incorporates new brighter colour schemes and lighter fabrics, all perfect for the summer.

You can have a look for yourself on the website

Since the creation of the label, the collection is now available in more locations, most notably opening new stores in Manchester and London.

Here’s a preview of some of my favourite pieces from the collection.

This white jacket is the perfect spring jacket for when it’s too cold to go without but feels too summery to wear a thick winter coat. Another massive plus about this jacket is that it’s stylish too, it can be the focal piece of an outfit. I don’t know about you but I hate planning a nice outfit only to cover it up with an average coat. It will also look great paired with summer’s brights.

Another perfect jacket from this collection, I’m spoilt for choice!

These two green dresses look perfect for summer nights, the fabrics looks light and breezy and the colours will look great with a tan.

My favourite piece of the collection is probably this white one shoulder dress with the bow detail on the shoulder. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

I better get pre-ordering ASAP!

I've just had a bit of an update of the blog, changed the format and updated the posts to follow, starting from tomorrow!

Happy New Year

I’ve finally returned from my internetless existence in Barcelona and hopefully finished my Christmas overeating so I’m back to the blog. Hopefully things should run a lot smoother now. I’m going to Paris in January and have made sure my apartment there has the internet! Hopefully I’ll get too see at least a little bit of fashion week with my new job so should have some exciting posts coming your way!

This post is dedicated to party dresses for New Years’ Eve whatever the occasion, slightly ironic for me as I don’t yet have a decided “location” and may end up staying in an indulging myself on a Chinese banquet…I figured I should have one last over indulgence before the resolutions kick in!

What to wear to....

A dinner date

This one is definitely for an upper class restaurant, not McDonalds! Team some wide leg trousers (super flattering when you’ve stuffed yourself with a 3 course meal) with a crisp white shirt, a grey cardigan to make the look a big more casual, some on trend shoe boots, a statement ring and a cute clutch. C’est parfait!

(Luella Chelsea fitted shirt £135, Chloe wide leg pants £333, Erotokritos lurex knit cardigan £175, Miu Miu crystal embellished purse £275, Lee Angel astrid ring £45, Marc Jacobs lace up shoe boots £355 all available from

What to wear for...

A Cold Return to England

I came back to England for a few days a couple of weeks ago to help my brother move into university. I was shocked by how cold it was already but luckily I came prepared with my choices of clothing. I teamed a dress which I would normally wear solo in Barca with some black PVC leggings, a scarf, a beige jacket, some jazz shoes and of course a hat.

Leather trainers

I’m banned from buying anymore shoes at the moment which is not good as I seem to have developed an obsession with leather trainers. I bought a pair of white ones the other day (slightly better for the bank balance than the £120 Kurt Geiger were offering even if they weren’t so pretty), but I’m still coveting them! I think they look great worn casual or even with a cute dress à la Lily Allen.

Leather trainers £120 available at

What I wore for drinks with friends

In Barcelona the days always start off hot but get cooler, especially at night sat on the terraza. I teemed this sheer flowery dress with some pixie boots and a brown jumper for the long cold (lonely) night!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Sorry about my prolonged absence, I had no Internet where I live for ages in Barcelona but now I’ve finally moved and once again I can connect with the outside world so posting can resume again! It won’t be as frequent as it once was but it will be a whole lot better than it has been in recent months! If anyone has any suggestions about any changes or anything they like or don’t like about my blog, feel free to comment, let’s make this a fresh start!

Fast forward to Paris

I’ve finally decided what I want to do when I finish university, well actually I decided a while ago but I’ve just started looking for internships in…Fashion PR so if anyone has any tips for me they would be greatly appreciated. My first port of call is Paris in January for a 5 month internship. I’m currently searching for apartments. I’m looking forward to the change in fashion as well, everyone here seems to do tourist un-chic in khaki shorts, a vest top and a bum bag or hipster, quite frankly I’m getting a bit bored of it all, don’t get me wrong I don’t mind Cory Kennedy but I wish people would get a new role model. It was different at first but now with thousands of clones it’s getting a bit old!

My favourite trend for this week is definitely blazer jackets, they can do so much for an outfit, be it dress it up or add a more casual feel depending on the fit. I love oversized men’s jackets with a nice pair of baggy trousers and killers heels for a night out or for a more casual look a fitted jacket with shorts, a t-shirt and converse.

I was chilling out on the beach yesterday, for the first time, and along came a girl handing out flyers, I thought it would be for one of the clubs on the port but no, it was for a Spanish festival called Tomatina. What the hell is that you may be thinking…all will become clear in due course!

Basically it’s a huge 2 hour long tomato fight that takes place in Buñol near Valencia every year on the last Wednesday in August! Over 30,000 people take part!

The flyer that I got was for a trip from Barcelona which included Sangria, a bus to Valencia, the tomato fight, public showers afterwards, then free time to explore Valencia before heading back to Barcelona. The only rules were to wear something white and crush the tomatoes before throwing them!

Unfortunately I’m working on Wednesday so won’t be able to go but I’ve included some pictures of last years event to give you an idea.

40 questions

I think I’m posting this because I feel guilty about my neglect…it’s not that I don’t want to post it that I can’t. It costs way to much to get internet access everyday in my room but I’ll keep trying as often as I can. In the meantime thanks for your loyalty and comments. This one’s a bit personal….

1. You have £10 and need to buy snacks at a petrol station, what do you get?
Diet Coke, Riesens and British Vogue. Now I really want some reasons and I really don’t think my local supermarket in Barcelona sells them, come to think of it any supermarket in Barcelona…
2. If you had to be reincarnated as some sort of sea dwelling creature, what would you be?
Hmm maybe a Jellyfish so I could scare people away, they look so cool when they move or maybe whatever type of fish Nemo was…it would depend on my mood of the day, friendly or scary.
3. Who's your favorite Redhead?
The only ones that are springing to mind right now are Nicole Kidman who for some reason annoys me, Lindsay Lohan whose cocaine or whatever it is addiction is not cool and Rupert Grint from Harry Potter so I’ll have to say him, he does have quite a cool, laid back casual style
4. What do you order when you're at an IHOP?
Being from the UK, I have absolutely no idea what an IHOP is. On further Google investigation I gather that it’s some sort of breakfast type joint so being British I’m going to say a fry up from the British equivalent.
5. Last book you read?
“Sushi for Beginners”, I got it free with a magazine, it was when I first got to Barcelona and had to share my room with a French girl who had about 3 different “boyfriends” here so anything to avoid talking to her. I have to admit I'm a sucker for cheesy romcom novels...bad I know
6. Have you made out with anyone on your friends list?
Is this like a Messenger friends list or a facebook friends list? If so yes, my boyfriend is on there. I’m not really understanding the question though
7. Describe your favorite pair of underwear.
I don’t really have a favourite and usually my underwear isn’t in pairs, I don’t really have much that matches.
8. Describe the last time you were injured.
Last week at work I stapled my finger so now I have two blood blisters. It doesn’t hurt but I don’t know how to get rid of it. It did hurt at the time though and one of my co-workers gave me a lollipop for being brave and not screaming in front of the guests.
9. Of all your friends, with whom would you want to be stuck in the middle of a jungle?
I don’t know, someone scary and bigger than me who could protect me and if all else failed be better prey for the animals but I'm not going to insult my friends by saying they're scary and big!
10. Are there any odd things that make you feel uncomfortable?
Yeh loads of things. Seeing other people brush their teeth gives me the shivers.11. Are there any weird things that turn you on?No weird things, nope12. What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?I have two phones, one has a picture of my nephew (my Spanish phone ) and my English phone has a picture of my boyfriend
11. Soda?
Diet Coke
12. Flavor of pudding?
Chocolate without a doubt- surely that’s the same for all girls?
13. What type of shirt are you wearing?
Just a plain white vest top
14. Prescription medication?
As in what do I take? Just the pill, a bit random no?
15. If you could use only one form of transportation for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My car, it’s so much easier, plus where I live it’s impossible to get anywhere by bus the majority of the time unless you change about 5 times then take a taxi
16. What are you listening to right now?
Rilo Kiley, Close Call
17. Most recent movie you've watched in a theater?
Harry Potter, the most recent one. I don’t know what it’s called, it’s the only one I’ve seen but I went to see it in 3D with my boyfriend to stop him from bugging me. Actually on second thought I think it was the Simpsons movie.
18. If you could invent one thing, what would it be?
A wardrobe the put the exact outfit together that you were thinking of in your head, and if you didn’t have something sourced it straight away and added it to the collection…ooh I’d have to make it have unlimited space too
19. Name a teacher you had the hots for?
I have never had the hots for any of my teachers, that’s just wrong
20. What's your favorite town?
Manchester, but I am biased, New York comes in at a close second
21. Favorite kind of cake?
Broken biscuit cake, it’s crushed digestives mixed with melted chocolate and cherries then set in the fridge
22. What's the first word that comes to mind right now?
Frog- random huh?!?!
23. What did you have for dinner LAST NIGHT?
Erm I can’t remember, I think I just had some salami and cheese, sad I know but I couldn’t be bothered to go to the supermarket and I can’t cook anything in the hotel.
24. What's the last thing you said out loud?
Probably “Love you bye”, I was talking to my mum on Skype
25. Look to your left, what do you see?
First I see my Ipod and its little docking station, some cookies which I’m going to finish very soon as I’m super hungry, some paracetemol for my cold, my glasses and my mobile phone
26. Who is the last person who spent $100 on you?
Probably my dad, well he didn’t actually spend it on me, he gave me some money when he left Barcelona.
27. Go into your text message log on your phone ... the last text you received?
On my Spanish phone from one of my work mates telling me to come downstairs if I want to eat. On my other phone from my boyfriend telling me he has new plans for his visit
28. What's the last piece of clothing you bought?
I bought 5 things at the same time, all from H&M, a plaid shirt, a woolly hat, some purple tights, some brown skinny trousers and a black vest top with some logo printed on the front
29. If you could be alone with anyone right now who would it be?
Probably my boyfriend, I haven’t seen him for a month and it was our 19 month anniversary yesterday
30. What do you look for physically in a partner?
I love guys with dark hair and blue eyes, who don’t take themselves too seriously, with a good dress sense
31. What's the saddest thing that's happened to you?
Nothing majorly sad to me, but when my best friends mum died
32. What is your motto in life?
Live life to the full, you never know when it might end

Ok, so it’s taken my about half an hour to fill that out, it shows how bored I am. I also managed to lose 8 questions along the way, not really sure how. If you read it maybe fill it out and post it on your blogs then leave me a comment so I can relieve my boredom again by reading your answers!

Here’s my roundup of my favourite street style from around the globe. Considering I’ve been missing for so long there’s not that much…I think I’m getting a bit sick of the summer fashion. I’ve already been buying my tights and woolly hats and want to get around to wearing them!

This is my only real summer inspired street style find. I like how both of these girls have worked the high waisted trend, one which I've still not been brave enough to try out...I just look ridiculous.

I can't wait for winter, I know when it gets here I'll complain that I'm too cold. I've been obsessing over winter coats this last week, trying them on in every shop. Every one looks at me like I'm crazy, I admit it is 33 degrees in Barcelona. I like these two coats, I like the casual oversized look, it keeps it interesting. Sometimes I hate wearing a coat because I feel like it covers up the outfit underneath but these two are the focal point of the outfit.

I like the look of the girl on the left, a nice autumn look, layering, a fuschia scarf...please just get cold! The girl on the right reminds of a 20's flapper. I like it.

What to wear to...

...ramble down Las Ramblas!

I'm back, well only temporarily...I'm having major problems getting an internet connection sorted which is the reason for the lack of posts over the last couple of weeks. I have many a post lined up but just can't get on the internet to get them out to you guys! This post is definitely inspired by my time here in Barcelona. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long until the next one!

This outfit is slightly biased as it is one that I have recently purchased myself but it is perfect for the occasion. One problem that I normally find myself with here in Barcelona is that someone invites you out in the day for a coffee or a walk and you usually find yourself in a restaurant or a bar until four in the morning. I’ve finally prepared myself for all eventualities with a foolproof outfit. A cute subtle metallic summery dress is perfect to take you from day to night, not too hot and not too casual. Team it with some leather trainers to keep it casual and a blazer for the cool nights. Add some bangles and a black clutch and you’re set to go.

Dresses and trousers

Sorry I haven't posted as much in the last few days, I'm moving to Barcelona tomorrow and have been trying to sort out all of my clothes and such like. It probably won't get much better for a couple of weeks while I try and sort myself out and get an internet connection set up. So for my possible last post in a while, here's this weeks round up of some street style from around the globe.

This outfit fits in very well with my last post about wide leg trousers, the high waist works perfectly too.

I love the cute little bag this girl is wearing around her neck, it really livens up an otherwise simple outfit.

Just a simple blue dress but it looks really cute, it hangs perfectly.

I love this simple summer dress, especially teamed with the bright headscarf, much more interesting than a headband!

I wouldn't look at this dress twice if I saw it in a shop but this girl pulls it off really well, I think it's because she doesn't take herself too seriously.
